Rediscovering the Wisdom of Nature

I never imagined plants would change my life — until they did.

In 2004, while doing my dissertation research, I interviewed healers from around the world. Every one of them spoke about nature — how it heals, how it teaches. At the time, I included it in my research, but I didn’t truly grasp its significance.

Fast forward 15 years. The world is in a pandemic, I’ve been working digitally for a decade, and suddenly I find myself back outside — living on farms, harvesting food, microdosing mushrooms, and sitting in plant medicine ceremonies.

Something clicked. Everything those healers had told me made sense.

With anxiety and depression affecting more than 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. we need solutions that go deeper than just treating symptoms. Plant medicines like psilocybin and ayahuasca have shown incredible promise for healing mental health issues.

Nature is alive. It teaches. It heals. And it’s been doing so for thousands of years.

Did you know the word “drug” originally comes from a word that means “plant”? It’s remarkable how disconnected we’ve become from something that has always been here to support us.

Plants are not alternative medicine. They are the original. And I’m so grateful I found my way back to them.

I can’t wait to share more about this journey in my upcoming book, The Last Ceremony.
